New York Institute of Beauty (NYIB) 20 yrs Anniversary Beauty Gala a diva inspired high fashion custome fundraiser for LGBT community was in one word “euphoric”. Held at the Heritage Club in Long Island on November 1, 2018, this fashionista was so ecstatic with such elegance and attention to detail I just had to write about it. As I entered the Heritage Club I was greeted by Humaira Sheikh the beauty director of NYIB, wearing gold and black gown that made her gleam, hugs and kisses soon followed, such a warm greeting, I thought. Then I entered the foyer and saw appealing ordure’s. As I indulged with antipasto, imported cheese, shrimp and scallops paired off with a lovely glass of wine the doors of the ballroom opened (It’s relevant to my readers to know that this fashionista was famished and you will see the emphases on food as you continue reading). As I entered the ballroom guest dressed in several divas inspired garments sashay to their tables. A unicorn wearing a chic black dress was seen along with a gentlemen wearing a horn goat mask, and lets not forget my darling sister, Marly Lotus, Miss Ice Queen with her opulence blue stilettos.
Performance by a diva @Ohmahlife a tall beauty, @Axelandrews88 electric dance moves and finally the lovely @Kaijaadonis entertained the crowd as we dine with three types of cuisines. Yes, three, Italian, Asian, and American.
Then the best dress competition was announced, and this fashionista leaped up from her seat along with other divas to compete. I had confidence that my vibrant red Pamella Roland dress along with handmade feathering harness made by Rosmalinda Beato was going to give the other divas a run for their money. It was down to me and this little cupcake pink dress. A final strut showing off my dress and then sounds of applause and echoes of cheers helped me win yes win the best dress competition!
The night was not over yet! Afterward, NYIB and Long Island Beauty School (LIBS) announced their winners for their Beauty Competition, their main criteria according to the beauty director was “creativity.” Congrats to the following winners: 1st place for NYIB Jacylyn Ruggero, winner of the People Choice Award Geneva Gibson. For LIBS Jesher Rivera from Hauppauge and Soyini Brown from Hempstead.
Next, we danced and danced, sister and I along with 100 plus guest enjoyed the remainder of the night, until dessert, hmm, mini strawberry ice cream on a cute cone with sprinkles, yes sprinkles, fried Oreos, mini white chocolate lollipops.
The last part of the night I was hoping to win one of those elaborate baskets they were raffling, I put most of my tickets on the “money tree,” I mean, wouldn’t you? Number after numbers were called out and winners announced; unfortunately, I wasn’t one of them.
Regardless of not winning the “money tree” basket, I must say I had such a stupendous night! I have to applaud the coordinators, NYIB and LIBS for putting together such a high-end glam night. “It’s important to have these events so we can actively help the community…besides having a good time it’s equally important to help support the community that is often overlooked” Humaira states. This fashionista along with her team members Peekapose Productions is highly honored and thankful for this night and extend our gratitude’s to Humaira Sheikh and Linda Giardinello director and founder of NYIB for their kind invitation.
XOXO
